Popular Catholic priest and founder of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN), Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, has said that the presidential flag bearer of the Labour party, Peter Obi cannot be Nigeria’s president.
According to BBC Igbo, he made this statement on Wednesday, June 15, when addressing members of his congregation.
The Rev father stated that he prefers having an old man as president to a young man who is stingy.
He further stated that “A stingy man, that cannot give people his money, with this hunger ravaging the land, and you are saying he is the one you want. Do you want to die of hunger? Are you people insane? Where is the Holy Spirit?
The clergyman noted that if the Igbos wanted a representative, then the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi is not the ideal candidate.
“Listen, a good old man is better than a young wicked man; Peter Obi is going nowhere as far as God lives. If Igbos want a representative, it is not someone like Peter Obi,” he said.

Recall that the controversial reverend father is not new to issues relating to election matters in the country.
Father Mbaka had criticised the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan during the build-up to the 2015 general election and prophesied that he would not be re-elected.
In 2021, the Rev Father fell out with President Buhari and asked him to resign. This incident occurred after he endorsed the former military head of state who won the 2015 presidential elections.

In response, the spokesman to the president, Garba Shehu revealed that Father Mbaka was pained because he wasn’t awarded the contracts he lobbied for back then.
According to the clergyman, Nigerians need a generous man as president because of the enormous hunger in the country.
