9 hole matchplay - allocation of handicaps/shots...

Now I'm going to get shot down on this but I would have thought that it would be 7 shots given on SI 1 to 7 and you would only give a shot where the corresponding SI holes appear on that half of the course. As far as I am aware each half of the course has an even split of the 18 SI's.

So if the front 9 contained SI's 1, 3, 5 and 7 you would give a shot at each, and if the back 9 had SI's 2, 4 and 6 then the same would apply if you only played the back 9
