Having packed up many a kit at the Northeastern Scale Model original building in Ballardvale Massachusetts that once stood next to the two track B&M mainline just north of the railroad crossing and at the bottom of a small hillside park as a kid in my teens makes feel good about the experience of having been involved in an enduring part of model railroading. Then we merged and sold the models in conjunction with Ambroid (That helped sell their excellent glue). This glue is still good today. I aIso helped do the line drawings for the plans of the cars also on a drafting table. There was a sample kit put out that contained pieces of the various wood cuttings that were produced so that modelers could build there own models from plans in Model Railroader etc. Working with wood components is much different from plastic, but plastic could be manufactured so much quicker.

If you are luckey enough to find a kit to build make sure it has the trucks, other hardware, glue, and the plans which has the inventory list. You won't be sorry for the time you spent.

This was also the time of the ending of the steam era. There is no comparison between the steam whistle and that of the diesel. Just my 2 cents as a model railrader.[:)]
