When it comes to delivering successful movies in the horror genre, there are hardly any directors who can outperform James Wan. After all, he has been involved with The Conjuring and Insidious film franchises.

After deviating from his go-to niche for a while, James Wan’s announcement to direct a film adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s The Call of Cthulhu has fans around the globe excited,

The news was announced in a recent report by Deadline as a part of the upcoming projects by superstar directors such as Sam Raimi and James Wan.

Wan recently described Call Of Cthulhu, an adaptation of the classic horror short story by science-fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft., as a ‘dream project’ and one he had been quietly working on for five years. The story involves a man investigating a demonic cult known as Cthulhu.

As mentioned earlier, James Wan named The Call of Cthulhu as his dream project. Well, as it turns out, The Conjuring director will be at the helm for the movie adaptation of the popular book series.

Considering Wan’s brilliant track record in the horror genre, the audience has high expectations from the 46-year-old Australian filmmaker.

What is The Call of Cthulhu About?

The Call of Cthulhu has been around for almost a century, as the first short story in the book series was written by H.P. Lovecraft in 1926 and published in 1928.

Since then, the horror book series has only gained more popularity among the fanbase of the horror genre. In fact, as of now, the franchise has more than 70 books published.

Keeping that in mind, James Wan will have plenty of options to adapt his dream project into his next billion-dollar franchise. As for the book’s genre, it primarily focuses on the dangers of modern science simply going too far.
