Ark Survival Ascended surprise launches today on Xbox Series X|S

Hopefully you haven't been holding your breath for Ark: Survival Ascended's launch on Xbox, as the amount of stop-start delays we've had recently might have put you in some trouble. Now, however, the wait seems almost over, as Studio Wildcard has confirmed Ark: Survival Ascended comes to Xbox today."We appreciate everyone's continued support and understanding as we navigated the certification process for Ark: Survival Ascended on Xbox," Studio Wildcard says, before confirming the game's Xbox release date for today, November 21. "To allow ample time for everyone to download the game, the new set of official servers will not go online until a few hours after the launch. This will ensure everyone has a fair chance to join the game and experience Ark: Survival Ascended. The new official servers will also go online with bonus rates (for a period of time) to allow for everyone to catch up."

It's been an uncertain time for Ark: Survival Ascended. Initially set to come to Xbox along with PC in August, the remaster was delayed and confirmed as launching in Early Access with an adjusted launch price. Then, last month, the game got a surprise PC release and the news that it was coming to consoles in November, with the team admitting they "fell short" with the console delay.

Following that, things got a bit more complicated as Ark: Survival Ascended's console release date was staggered: Xbox Series X|S got a release date for November 14 with a PlayStation launch planned for the end of the month. Things weren't over there, as Ark: Survival Ascended was then pushed back to the end of that week, and then delayed again to this week.

That last delay seems to have done the trick: the game arrives for Xbox today. PlayStation players, meanwhile, will now get their hands on it in December. After that, Ark 2 is currently set for the end of 2024.
