He was born to Rosalie Tingman and Julius Rock, and he has the same set of parents as his six siblings – six brothers and a sister.
Shortly after his birth, Rock’s parents shifted to the Crown Heights area in Brooklyn.
A few years later, they moved again and made their home in Bedford-Stuyvesant, which is a blue-collar neighborhood.
Rock’s mother, Rosalie Tingman, had a career as a teacher and a social worker, specializing in working with individuals with mental disabilities.
Meanwhile, his father, Julius Rock, worked as both a truck driver and a newspaper deliveryman.
Unfortunately, Julius passed away in 1988 due to complications from ulcer surgery.
