St. Petersburg, FL – No coupons. No searching for discount codes. You don’t even have to enter the codes in yourself. There’s a new way to online shop and save money.
It’s a Google Chrome extension called Honey, and it's free to download.
Here’s how it works: Honey automatically finds the promo codes at online retailers, tells you how many are available and when you’re ready to checkout it tests the discount codes and applies the best one to your purchase.
10News WTSP wanted to see how much money it would save you and tested the extension app at a few retailers.

At Macy’s, an evening gown, shoes and clutch would have cost about $408. Honey tested 10 codes and after a few minutes saved almost $102.
Bass Pro didn’t have quite the savings, but saved us $23 on an order of sunglasses, a watch and fishing rod.
Target turned out to be different. Target automatically applied all available discounts to our cart that had been filled with everything from a flat screen television to a baby crib. Honey tested extra codes, but in the end, none worked. Instead, we got rewards that later could be redeemed for cash.
Honey gets a commission from retailers and therefore gives its users or shoppers “Honey Money.”
It does work on almost every retailer including Groupon. When we tested it at Walmart, it did aggregate any codes, but did offer a free cash bonus.
