An emotional return to the field came out on national TV Monday for Colts receiver Reggie Wayne.
ESPN's cameras captured a close-up of Wayne on the sidelines as Chris Botti performed a beautiful rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" on the trumpet before Monday night's Colts-Giants game. The broadcast showed an emotional Wayne with a tear rolling down his cheek.
Wayne is returning to action after missing one game with a hyperextended elbow. He caught an 11-yard pass in the first quarter that moved him into eighth place on the NFL's all-time receiving yards list.
He later caught a 40-yard touchdown pass to give Indianapolis a 30-10 lead in the third quarter.
After the game,
Wayne told Bob Kravitzthe moment caught up to him.
"I'm truly blessed. Fourteen years, still here playing a kid's game. I dreamed of playing in the NFL since I was seven years old, and I'm still playing. So yeah, it gets emotional. Primetime game, the bright lights, great teammates, great coaches, great organization. It couldn't get better than this. Every game gets me because you never know when it could be your last one," he said.
