Who doesn't love Harrison Ford? I mean, just think about it...Star Wars, Indiana Jones, The Fugitive, Air Force One...you don't need me to go on, right? Plain and simple, he's the epitome of a movie star. And it just so happens, he's one of my dad's favorite actors ever (ask my dad and he'll tell you he's his long-lost brother too. You can judge for yourself in the picture below).
No, not this one.
So when my parents were in town a couple weeks ago, I took them with me to the premiere of 42, hoping for my dad to at least get a glimpse of his long-lost honorary brother. But I was worried about one thing—this was going to be my first time interviewing Harrison, and truth be told, I hadn't heard such promising things. "He's grumpy," one journalist friend told me. "He'll respond to you with one-word answers," said another. Well, that surely sounded promising.
What I got was something altogether different. Harrison not only talked to everyone, but he could not have been more gracious. And when I asked him if he was drawn to roles where he wore fedoras (as Branch Rickey in 42 and, of course, as Indy), he cracked up and got a kick out of a question that had never been posed to him before. But then, before all was said and done, I introduced him to my parents, who had just flown in from St. Louis earlier that day, and not only did he take time out to say hello and engage in conversation, but he took this photo with my dad, who I may never see exude so much happiness until I walk down the aisle.
