Highlights

  • Stasis subclasses in Destiny 2's Beyond Light expansion have introduced Aspects and Fragments, which greatly enhance build crafting possibilities.
  • Some Aspects, like Winter's Shroud for Hunters and Tectonic Harvest for Titans, have limited use in PvE and The Crucible, but may be useful in specific situations.
  • Warlocks have powerful Aspects like Frostpulse and Bleak Watcher that excel in freezing combatants and creating crowd control in both PvE and The Crucible.

Stasis was the first darkness subclass that was released with the Beyond Light expansion. It was the first subclass to feature the system of Aspects and Fragments. It improved the build crafting potential of the subclass greatly.

Here's a guide to Crota's End, the newest raid in Destiny 2's Season of the Witch.

Each class has access to 4 unique Aspects as well as a collection of 14 Fragments. Each one of these Aspects and Fragments brings something new to the table which can greatly change the way how a player uses Stasis.

12 Winter’s Shroud

Winter's Shroud, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Winter’s Shroud is an Aspect for Hunters that enhances the dodge ability. Winter’s Shroud states “Dodging slows nearby targets.” It also affects nearby combatants with 40 stacks of Slow.

Winter’s Shroud is extremely underwhelming in PvE and has little use in The Crucible. The perk Chill Clip can do what Winter’s Shroud does but better. In The Crucible, Winter’s Shroud is useful if you are running a Shotgun but other than that it has barely any use.

11 Tectonic Harvest

Tectonic Harvest, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Tectonic Harvest is a Stasis Shards generating Aspects for Titans and works as “Shattering a Stasis crystal creates a Stasis shard. This shard grants melee energy when picked up by you or your allies.”

Stasis Shards grant melee energy but unfortunately, the Stasis melee of Titans is extremely underwhelming, so the entire point of Stasis Shards is lost. However, you can use Tectonic Harvest if you plan to use Stasis Shards for Armor Charge.

10 Grim Harvest

Grim Harvest, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Grim Harvest is a Stasis Shards generating Aspects for Hunters and works as “Defeating slowed or frozen combatants creates Stasis shards. These shards grant melee energy when picked up by you or your allies.”

Stasis Shards are underwhelming in PvE and have barely any use in The Crucible. Thanks to the recent changes that allow Stasis Shards to grant Armor Charges, they have become relevant in PvE, but there are still other better options.

9 Glacial Harvest

Glacial Harvest, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Glacial Harvest is a Stasis Shards generating Aspect for Warlock and works as “Freezing targets creates Stasis shards around the frozen targets. Higher tier combatants create more shards.” These Stasis Shards grant melee energy on pickup.

Stasis Shards as previously mentioned are underwhelming in the majority of the content. Stasis Melee abilities are not good to begin with, and Stasis Shards can be used to gain Armor Charges, but there are just other better options for that.

8 Frostpulse

Frostpulse, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Frostpulse is a Warlock Stasis Aspect that enhances the Warlock’s Rifts. It works as “Casting your Rift generates a shockwave that freezes nearby combatants.” Freeze is a very strong subclass verb and the ability to do it just by casting your rift is a nice option.

Shadebinder Warlocks excel at freezing combatants thanks to their Exotic option, Osmiomancy Menace, so Frostpulse becomes underwhelming in PvE. In The Crucible, however, Frostpulse is extremely effective in shutting down rushing combatants.

7 Cryoclasm

Cryoclasm, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Cryoclasm is a Titan Aspect that improves the mobility potential as well as how you play with Stasis. It states “After sprinting for a short time, enables a longer and more powerful slide. Sliding into Stasis crystals or frozen targets shatters them and any nearby frozen targets.”

Cryoclasm improves the ability to shatter combatants and crystals by allowing you to just run into them. Cryoclasm is useful in lower-tier activities but in higher-tier activities where you keep your distance from combatants, it is not used much.

6 Howl Of The Storm

Howl of the Storm, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Howl of the Storm is an Aspect for the Titans that changes the basic melee ability to an improved one. It states “While sliding, activate your charged melee ability to launch a wave of Stasis energy forward that freezes targets and creates Stasis crystals.”

The default Stasis melee of Titans is extremely underwhelming so Howl of the Storm is a pretty good replacement. It is also not bad in terms of crowd control and generating Stasis Crystals, so overall a pretty good alternative to default melee.

5 Diamond Lance

Diamond Lance, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Diamond Lance is unique to Behemoth Titan and has the functionality to “Shatter or defeat targets with Stasis abilities to create a Stasis Lance. Throw the lance to freeze targets on impact. Melee with the lance to slam the ground, freezing targets in a small area.”

Diamond Lance is a pretty good Stasis utility tool that can be used to freeze and shatter combatants from a distance. It can also be used with the new Titan Exotic Cadmus Ridge Lancecap to further improve the performance of Diamond Lances.

4 Shatterdive

Shatterdive, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Shatterdive used to be extremely busted in The Crucible with its ability to wipe out entire enemy teams with a single Glacier Grenade. Shatterdive works as “Activate while midair to quickly descend and shatter nearby targets on impact.”

Shatterdive can be activated even if there are not any nearby Stasis Crystals or Frozen targets and hence can be used as a mobility tool. After the nerfs Shatterdive has received, it has lost its potency in The Crucible but is still extremely strong in PvE.

3 Touch Of Winter

Touch of Winter, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Touch of Winter is an Aspect for Hunters that improves the lethality of Stasis Grenades. Stasis Grenades have extremely good crowd control capabilities but lack in the lethality department. Touch of Winter fortunately improves their overall functionality.

Touch of Winter works by allowing “Glacier Grenadesto spawn an additional crystal and form in a ring pattern. Duskfield Grenades are larger and create a small Stasis crystal on impact.Coldsnap Grenadescan chain one additional time and spawn small Stasis crystals on detonation.”

2 Iceflare Bolts

Iceflare Bolts, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Iceflare Bolts are Warlock Aspect that is used to chain freeze large groups of combatants. It works by “Shattering a frozen target spawns seekers that track and freeze other nearby targets.” Iceflare Bolts have extremely good chaining potential.

Iceflare Bolts work as long as there are enemies to freeze. Freezing a single target and then shattering it will in turn freeze another target which can be shattered again to continue the loop. However, if Iceflare Bolts are triggered in quick succession, they will have a cooldown of 6 seconds.

1 Bleak Watcher

Bleak Watcher, Destiny 2, Best Stasis Aspects

Bleak Watcher is an amazing Warlock Aspect that is extremely good in higher-tier activities thanks to how easily it can freeze an entire group of enemies. Bleak Watcher in combination with Iceflare Bolts is one of the best setups for Grandmaster Nightfalls.

Bleak Watcher works as “Press and hold the grenade button to convert your grenade into a Stasis turret that fires slowing projectiles at nearby targets.” If you are running the Exotic Osmiomancy Menace you can have up to 4 Stasis Turret in the battleground.
