Her favorite-smelling place on earth: “Arizona has the loveliest air—it’s green and fresh but also smoky and desert-y. Whenever I go to Sedona, Arizona, I come back smelling like campfire.”
Her outlook-changing haircut: “Growing up, somebody said I didn’t have the face for short hair. But I think your hair can change the way you feel about yourself. I cut my hair into a mohawk when I was 23. That was [five years ago], and I’ve never really grown it back. I felt such freedom.”
Her short-hair staple: This Oribe dry texturizing spray gives you volume and shape without making your hair crackly or sticky."
Her glowy skin secret: "Stila's Illuminating Beauty Balm has SPF but also has a slight sheen to it."
On-set beauty essentials: “When I have those really early call times, I show up and have to deal with my undereyes. So I get those little angel-wing-shaped eye masks. Then I just have coffee and breakfast with these big cooling things under my eyes.”
Her in-flight plan: “A dermatologist told me to drop chlorophyll into my water when I travel. I’ve noticed it really helps clear up my skin, especially with the drying, recycled air on a plane.”
Her moving-vehicle makeup strategy: “I was once on a tour bus and had to put makeup on and curl my hair, but the only outlet was outside the bathroom. And the door kept closing, so I had to hike my foot up to prop the door and stretch the cord through. The mirror was somewhere behind me. It was like a game of Twister.”
Her acne-prevention trick: “Relaxing. I’ve struggled with acne my whole life. And I know that when I’m stressed or overwhelmed, my skin’s going to go nuts.”
