To make Beyoncé's skin extra perfect, Sir John applied a clay mask the day before, and then pressed a few drops of rose oil into her skin. "I like to use rose oil because it hydrates, but it's also really repairing," he says. It works for oilier complexions too. "I sometimes mix it with a bit of water in an atomizer and use it as a mist. It preps your skin for moisturizer or makeup primer." Next, he applied a light moisturizer and light layer of liquid matte foundation—no crazy stage makeup here. "I wanted to keep it as sheer as possible. It's not a two-hour show, so it's okay to do more of a fresh look," he says. "Plus, her skin is in top shape, so she doesn't need a lot." As if you needed more reason to be jealous...
Cheeks
Next, he used a cool, taupe-toned contouring powder to accentuate her cheekbones, a warm bronzer on the apples of her cheeks, and a bit of peachy gold blush. "Everything is super warm, except the taupe I used to contour," he says.
Eyes
For her eyes, he used a matte brown powder to "sculpt" her lids, a shimmery, rust-toned powder on the center of her eyes, and a bit of copper powder on top of that. "I like to start with matte first—it's something to lay the pigment on. And the contrast of matte next to metallic is really nice," says Sir John. He finished the eyes with coffee-toned liner and lots of black mascara on both top and bottom lashes.
Lips
Sir John applied a warm nude lipstick and a bit of powder metallic copper pigment "pressed into lips," he says. "I wanted the colors to feel a bit cyber."
