Florida man who attacked woman with milk crate over playful exchange about food arrested on September 5

HALLANDALE BEACH, FlORIDA: In 2022, 65-year-old Florida man, Kirk Francis Russell, found himself in legal trouble following an altercation at a South Florida 7-Eleven. 

As per NewsRadio WFLA, Russell was arrested on Tuesday, September 5, on a felony battery charge related to an incident that unfolded on July 28, 2022, at the store situated at 722 Atlantic Shores Blvd in Hallandale Beach.

What did Kirk Francis Russell do? 

The incident began when Russell expressed dissatisfaction with the chicken he had purchased from the store, complaining to a cashier that it was "hard." 

The cashier, however, disagreed, affirming that the chicken was fresh and playfully teased Russell, suggesting that he was "hurting her feelings." In response, Russell apologized.

However, the situation took an unfortunate turn when the cashier commented on another food item, remarking, "I don't know about that beef patty though." 

A woman in line, later identified as the victim, decided to join in the exchange, humorously advising Russell, "Oh, oh, you're gonna have to take a chance with that meat patty."

Russell said something rude about the woman's weight then. The situation got tense as the woman snapped back at Russell with a derogatory term.

Russell questioned why she was using such language, prompting her to explain that in response to his comment about her weight, she was calling him a derogatory term.

This verbal confrontation led to Russell threatening to return to confront the woman after dropping off groceries at his mother's house.

Why is Kirk Francis Russell charged with battery ? 

Russell was charged with battery after he unexpectedly returned to the scene, armed with a plastic milk crate and confronted the woman in the parking lot, shouting, "Let's fight." 

Russell used the plastic crate to physically assault the woman, striking her on the forehead and her right wrist as she attempted to shield herself.

She screamed in pain, further angering Russell.

He proceeded to strike her two more times with the crate, hitting her left arm and knocking her phone out of her hand when she tried to use it.

Following the violent attack, Russell fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

As a result of the assault, the woman suffered a wrist fracture, bruising on her arm and a lump on her forehead.
