Speedway, May 8 - A.J. Foyt IV escaped injury Thursday when he crashed his car at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in preparation for the Indy 500.

The 19-year-old rookie; driving for his grandfather, the legendary four-time Indy champ A.J. Foyt); brushed the wall coming out or the fourth turn before hitting the wall a second time and sustaining rear end damage.

The elder Foyt said a cut left rear tire caused his grandson to lose control.

A.J. Foyt Sr. says it looked like the car "got out from under him a little bit," adding he was probably trying too hard.
