Breaking news, Smitten kittens! After dating for two years, Elisabetta Canalis and George Clooney have decided to go their separate ways. That's right, the dashing dude who first made us swoon on The Facts of Life is back in the dating pool.

In a joint statement, the couple told Us Weekly "We are not together anymore. It's very difficult and very personal and we hope everyone can respect our privacy."

Relationships end for all sorts of reasons: falling out of love, cheating, trust issues, growing apart, career changes and more. While we're not sure what the exact story behind the George and Elisabetta split was, we do hope that it hasn't soured either when it comes to future relationships. Especially Mr. Clooney. Which is why we've decided to write him an open letter.

*Dear George,*Cool if we call you George? What about Georgie Boy? No? OK we'll stick with George.

Sorry to hear about your break up. It seems like you and Elisabetta were such a fun-loving pair. Relationships have their ups and downs and while we know marriage isn't in the cards for you, we wanted to share a nifty little secret we've discovered from chatting with readers, friends and even family members.

Good, healthy relationships, when they work, get better with age. Sure first dates and the early stages of courtship are fun. There's flirting and getting to know all about each other. We've all experienced those butterflies that pop up when waiting to meet up with a new fling.

But once two people hit it off and after the butterflies have faded away, things start to change. And that's not always a bad thing. You grow so much more comfortable around each other. You're not nearly as worried about how you look—not like you ever have to worry about that anyway.
