Guide for One Leaves - Story Walkthrough: Level 1

I stated this in the general hints and tips page, but I'll repeat it here too. Before you can unlock any achievements in this game, you must first accept the game's terms and conditions.

On this first playthrough, we're going to take our time and unlock all of the "collectible" achievements. From the main menu, press "Play".

Once the level starts, you'll be enclosed in a cage and a voice will give you a quick rundown of your objective. Eventually, he'll count down from three and the gate in front of you will open. Progress through the first hallway and open the door. In this room, enter the air duct to the right. Once you drop down in the next hallway you'll unlock:

On this first floor, you'll eventually see a hallway that usually looks like this:

Sometimes it looks different, but it's always on the first floor. At the end of this hallway are a set of doors, enter through one of them into the gymnasium and approach the swing to unlock:

Return to the main hallway and follow the red cables. One cable will lead you to the library, the other will lead you to the repeating hallway. The cable to the right will usually lead you to the library, but the level is different each time. In the library, approach the bookshelf immediately in front of you and press to move it. Enter through the newly-opened path and move the next bookshelf immediately in front of you. Now turn around and move the first bookshelf back to where it started. This should have opened a path to the front-right corner of the room. Follow the path and walk your character into the spiraling smoke to unlock:

NOTE: When doing this puzzle for your speedruns, solve it the same way, but don't worry about entering the spiraling smoke. Just head straight for the exit.

Now exit the room and pull the lever to open the gate. Return to the red cables and follow the other cable this time. This will lead you to the endless hallway. There are two ways to solve this puzzle, but only one will give you the achievement. The first way to solve it is to open the door and enter the hallway, then back up and wedge yourself in the doorway between the two rooms. Mess around with the camera a bit and you'll be able to enter the next room and pull the lever to continue. This is the method I would recommend when doing your speedruns.

The second way to solve this depends on which of the two variations the game generates for you:

The first variation starts with a cloud of smoke a little over halfway through the hall. If this is the variation you have, progress through the smoke until "Turn Around" (written on the wall in front of you) disappears. Now turn around and a lever will have appeared around the corner. If the lever didn't appear, enter the cloud again and turn around once you start to cough. Pull the lever to unlock:

Note that sometimes the text on the wall doesn't disappear. In this case, just walk into the first cloud of smoke and turn around. If the lever still isn't there, enter the second cloud and turn around. If the lever still hasn't appeared, try it again on one of your speedruns; it only takes about seven seconds once you familiarize yourself with this puzzle.

The second variation will have a cloud of smoke directly in front of you once you open the door. This variation is pretty buggy, which makes it much trickier. If this is the variation you were given, I would use the "wedge" method to bypass this puzzle and get the achievement on a later playthrough when you get the first variation. If you do choose to solve this one though, continue to pass through the hallway until smoke clouds stop appearing. Now turn around and go in the opposite direction through the doorway. You may need to repeat these steps a few times before the game registers that you've met the criteria. The smoke will eventually disappear and the lever will be around the corner.

Now go to the opposite end of the hallway to exit the room and pull your final lever. Go back downstairs and follow both red cables to the exit.
