How to Meet Men, Pickup Lines to Use on Men

And, of course, there's something to be said for just being natural, rather than following some attraction blueprint. "If a woman just walks up to me and says hi, then asks my name, it's much more natural than a pickup line. It shows that she doesn't need anything to water down her approach, or distract me from the fact that she's approaching me," says another friend, Greg.
Also, a little flattery goes a long way. "If a woman says something like, 'You don't look like you belong here,' it makes you feel special, as though you're better than anyone else there," he adds. "It also shows she would maybe want to go somewhere else with you, which is intriguing. But if she doesn't say it in a disarming way, it can be too aggressive."
If you're a shy lady, Greg gives you permission to fib a little. Ask a guy if you've seen him somewhere before. "It's a natural segue into an introduction. He'll say, 'No, I don't think so, but I'm X.'"
And what if you happen to be at the supermarket, a.k.a. a place devoid of any alcoholic social lubrication? You can still hit on the cute guy you see by asking him to help you reach something (if he's tall, obvi) or if the cereal in his cart is any good. "It triggers that classic, want-to-help instinct that many good guys have," says Greg. Old-fashioned? Yes. Does it work? Double yes.
If you're on the subway or some other form of public transportation, use your body language to your benefit or try bonding over a weird occurrence. Those aren't few and far between on public transit! "If anything is goofy or notable in any way, smile at the guy in question and flick your eyes in the direction of whatever is going on," suggests Greg.
