American professional wrestler and actor John Cena has been signed to WWE since 2001. However, he has been performing part-time in WWE ever since he embarked on his acting career in Hollywood. He appeared in the most number of matches since 2018’s Big Match John as he appeared in four televised matches in 2023.

Last November, John Cena lost his most recent match to The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa at WWE Crown Jewel. He recently opened up about his favorite World Championship win and gave an exciting hint for his future in wrestling.

John Cena Gave an Exciting Hint About His Future in WWE

With 16 world championships under his belt, John Cena ties the record with wrestler Ric Flair for the most recognized title wins. Although fans have often contemplated him winning the world championship for the 17th time, the chances of him doing so are quite unlikely given his busy schedule due to his increased focus on his acting career. However, if he were to win the title for the 17th time, he would surpass Nature Boy’s record.

In a recent interview with wrestling reporter Chris Van Vliet (via YouTube), Cena was asked about his favorite World Championship win. In his reply to the interviewer’s question, he teased another run at the championship, saying:

“My next one [is my favorite.] I have often said that the time is coming for me to hang them up and I’m not lying when I say, but it’s not tomorrow. It’s probably soon but not tomorrow, so you never know.”

Five of Cena’s sixteen championship wins came through defeating WWE Hall of Famers. Broadly speaking, he has won the WWE Championship thirteen times, the WWE Tag Team Championship two times, and the World Tag Team Championship the same number of times.

Further, The Suicide Squad actor has won the Royal Rumble twice, once in 2008 and another time in 2013. All of these wins have established him as one of the greatest professional wrestlers in the history of sporting entertainment.

With his WWE retirement on the horizon, John Cena has long been following in the footsteps of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as he is now pursuing a full-time acting career.

When Vliet asked Cena about his four greatest wrestlers in WWE, he did not name himself among them. Instead, he chose Hulk Hogan, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, his form rival The Rock, and current undisputed WWE universal champion Roman Reigns. He especially complimented Reigns, saying:

“Roman has done a fantastic job of taking the business to heights its never been to before.”

The Bumblebee actor’s choices cannot be argued with considering all of these wrestlers have been the top wrestlers during the hottest periods in wrestling history. Not to mention that Cena himself is a GOAT.
