Personally the last thing you want is a rush of anything, as the bigger the rush the bigger the drop/fall!
I do however use those bars, specifically the Oat & Fruit and not only do I fell better for eating one on the turn, I actually enjoy them anyway.
Water for me or squash, never sugar loaded drinks for the same point made at the beginning.
Partial to a Banana but sometimes I forget about it and its not very nice to find some days or a week later in the bag!
