Layout room ceiling colour? - Model Railroader Magazine

I also used a drop ceiling in my layout room, and most of the lights are above it, with cracked ice panels to diffuse the light.  The room is approximately 560sq.ft., but a very odd shape, so I deemed a lighting valance not especially practical:

I recently double-decked part of the layout (the area in grey in the drawing above) and added more lighting for what became the lower level, and also changed a couple of the ceiling fixtures for larger ones.  There are now sixteen 4' double tube fixtures and two 8' double tube fixtures in the ceiling, and another eleven 4' double tube fixtures lighting the lower level.  I may change out one more of the ceiling 4'-ers for an 8'-er.  The layout fascia will be painted black once all of the hardware is installed.

In the photo below, the two 4' fixtures to either side are now 8', and the one in the distance may be changed likewise:
