Life In Plastic, It's Fantastic: Barbie Hits The Runway In Some Amazing Clothes

Oh dolls, I'm not ashamed for a minute to admit that this afternoon, when Barbie came to life on the runway in Bryant Park, I clapped and giggled and jumped up and down in my seat and was instantly transported back to my New Jersey playroom circa 1987 when my sister Jamie and I spent hours upon hours dressing our favorite doll. Except it was about 1,000 times better than that.

Here at Slaves to Fashion, we've been anticipating Barbie's big runway debut for months now...and I have to say, it was worth the wait. Everyone at the show was invited to bring a guest of their own, and the place was crawling with squealing six-year-olds who could barely contain their excitement. The lucky little lady in front of me told me she has 33 Barbie dolls and was "very very very excited" to see Barbie in real life.
