Man pleads guilty to abducting former boss

Tampa - A former Tampa car dealership employee is pleading guilty to kidnapping his former boss and faces up to life in prison.James Underwood was arrested last April after he kidnapped Eddie Gomez Junior at gunpoint in the garage of his home near Lutz. Investigators say he ransacked Gomez’s home, then forced Gomez into the trunk of his own car, drove him to a storage area and shackled him to the floor.Gomez’s wife withdrew an undisclosed amount of ransom money from a Tampa bank, but was able to slip tellers a note.Officials say Underwood blamed Gomez for the loss of his job as a detail manager at Ferman Chevrolet. Gomez was able to work himself free and escape.Underwood faces between 18 years to life in prison when he is sentenced April 9th.
