Mark 7 VW Golf question

This is about golf really.

I have to change my car soon. As I've just moved jobs my daily commute has gone up from a total of 10 miles a day to 90. My current car (which I love dearly) gives truly awful mpg so I need something smaller and more diesel'ish. I've been considering a 2015 Golf or 2015 A3 Sportback.

And now the golf bit. Generally my clubs live in the boot of the car in case I get overcome with the urge to hit some balls. With the clubs (and frequently trolley) in there a lot of the time, folding the seats is not an option. So, I need a car where the clubs and my Motocaddy M1 can fit in the boot with the seats up.

Does anyone have a Golf or A3 sportback, and do clubs and trolley fit?
