‘Me and Chioma didn’t deserve that’ – Davido speaks about son’s untimely passing [Video]

Popular Nigerian singer and record producer, David Adedeji Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, has opened up on the loss of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.

Davido talked about Ifeanyi’s death during an interview with CNN on his latest album, ‘Timeless‘, which is the rave of the moment.

According to Davido, he and his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland didn’t deserve that. He disclosed that grieving the loss of his son had some impact on his album.

He said his ‘Timeless‘ album would have been released a long time ago because he had finished it before his son’s death, but he had to “take a step back” after the tragic loss.

Davido revealed he was able to get himself back on track because of the support he got from people.

In his words, “Before my son passed, we had finished the album. But it was a tragic situation and I really had to calm myself down and take a step back.

“Nobody would want that, and everybody knows that I and Chioma didn’t deserve that. At some point, I couldn’t open my Instagram for weeks.

“One day, I just checked it and I saw messages from every kind of person in the world. I was like ‘you’re fine, you see everybody is rooting for you.’ That was one thing that really made me strong enough to stand up again, get back in the studio and do what I love.”

Ifeanyi Adeleke was said to have drowned in a pool on October 31, 2022. It was gathered that the incident happened within Davido’s residence on the Banana Island of Lagos.
