Alrighty then.

Downtown, there is a Wyndham hotel in the old Union Station. It has a large area outside the hotel where you can railfan. I would call it a balcony, but it's not exactly that. I railfanned for hours there before I decided to actually stay in the hotel, and no one said a word. Parking is the only issue, as the hotel only does that valet crap. If you can, park in front of the shops that are close to the hotel. Just keep an eye out, so that no one complains. (Which hasn't happened)

The yard that you see is Kayne Yard. TPH(Trains per hour) is from 5-10, depending on how many crew changes clog up the main tracks.

I haven't railfanned Radnor yard much, as it seems to lurk in worse neighborhoods. I did find an industrial area that seems to be fine. It is off of I-65. The road's name is armory drive. Just south is the huge hump yard(I believe it's a hump, if not, it's large to be a staging/class. yard...), but I haven't explored this yet.

Here's how I found my spots I go to around Radnor Yard: I went to Google Local()and typed in "Nashville, TN". I then searched the area north of Brentwood, just off I-65. For a view of how large Radnor is, click the "satellite" option.

Hope this helps,
Matt
