Have you ever wondered what Peanuts' Lucy van Pelt would say if you visited her psychiatric help booth? Now's your chance. Ahead of the new The Peanuts Movie, in theaters November 6, we asked her to answer some of our life questions about love, meditation, and what to do for Halloween. What should I dress up as for Halloween?
*Personally, I prefer the classics: witch, vampire, ghost. But so long as you get candy and you're not waiting all night in a pumpkin patch for the Great Pumpkin to show up, wear whatever you want.
I don't want to spend Thanksgiving with my family this year—do I have to?
Attitude is everything. Try thinking of it this way: You don't have to spend Thanksgiving with your family, you get to spend Thanksgiving with them. You also get to boss around your younger brothers and make them give you the biggest piece of pie.
How do I know if I'm happy?
If you're not Charlie Brown, you've got a pretty good shot.
Do you really think meditation works?
Meditating is a healthy way to deal with stress. It's also a nice way to get people to clam up and stop complaining about their problems.
What should you do if someone gives you unsolicited advice?
As someone who dispenses advise professionally, I pay little heed unless the person has credentials and a psychiatric booth.
What should I do if I don't like my job?
That's tricky. Life is short and you should do what you love. Maybe just find a nice hobby and realize that jobs aren't supposed to be fun. If they were, they would be called "funs."
How do you know if someone likes you?
There are often subtle clues. For example, does this person play piano incessantly and ignore you, even though you're right there? All the time? Leaning on his piano?! And he's just sitting there, his head down, staring at the keys, pretending you don't exist!!?? This could be a sign they have feelings for you.
