Rule when hitting the rope of a temporary fence

Being good with grammar doesn't necessarily mean good with a keyboard but then diacritics are rarely used in English.

That's a weak cop-out and you should be ashamed of it. Many loan words from other languages should still be written in English with their native diacritics especially where it aids pronunciation. I reckon touché is one of them. I would still write soufflé, although it would be very old fashioned and no doubt pretentious to write hôtel.
