As with all games, you will need to survive and overcome everything that stands between you and the game’s completion. Knowing where to find the best pieces of gear can even trivialize the end portions of a game.
RELATED: Starfield: Every Spacesuit Mod, Ranked
Starfield has several pieces of gear to consider such as helmets and packs, but one of the other key elements you will need to make use of is your spacesuits. Be sure to slip into the right one unless you want to be completely overwhelmed as there are many different damage types out there.
Updated by Chad Thesen on September 26, 2023: This list has been expanded with an additional five entries to give it a wider range of coverage so that readers are able to make more informed decisions for their choices in the game.
15 UC Urbanwar Spacesuit
This Spacesuit will be obtainable while you are doing the "Hostile Intentions" mission. During this mission, one of the available objectives will be to speak with Lieutenant Azevedo. This is an optional objective, and once you speak with Azededo, you will be able to browse their wares (which include this Spacesuit).
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 64, an energy resistance of 68, an EM resistance of 72, a thermal resistance of 0, an airborne resistance of 10, a corrosion resistance of 20, and a radiation resistance of 30. This suit has a mass of 16.40 and is valued at 21,395 credits.
14 UC Wardog Spacesuit
This Spacesuit will also be obtainable while you are doing the "Hostile Intentions" mission. Just like before, it will be available when you are able to purchase items from Lieutenant Azevedo.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 64, an energy resistance of 96, an EM resistance of 80, a thermal resistance of 10, an airborne resistance of 0, a corrosion resistance of 20, and a radiation resistance of 30. This suit has the same mass and value as the US Wardog Spacesuit, being 12 and 9,950 respectively.
13 Peacemaker Spacesuit
This spacesuit requires you to play through the Peacemaker quest. This suit has a decent amount of EM resistance, but what makes it stand out from a lot of other spacesuits is a bonus effect. This bonus effect gives the Peacemaker Spacesuit an additional 10% damage to Rifles, making it a great option for players that favor damage over defense.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 73, an energy resistance of 77, an EM resistance of 81, a thermal resistance of 10, an airborne resistance of 20, a corrosion resistance of 0, and a radiation resistance of 30. This suit has a mass of 6.8 and is valued at 10,147 credits.
12 Gran-Gran’s Spacesuit
There are many features available at character creation, one of which is the starting trait called “Kid’s Stuff”. This trait does not just give you one of the game’s free ships, it also gives you some loving parents and even grandparents that you meet later down the line. Among the many gifts you get from this trait will be Gran-Gran’s Spacesuit. This may not offer the best protection, but it is such a wholesome little experience the game gives you to enjoy.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 76, an energy resistance of 60, an EM resistance of 68, a thermal resistance of 35, an airborne resistance of 10, a corrosion resistance of 20, and a radiation resistance of 15. This suit has a mass of 8.14 and is valued at 6858 credits.
11 Va'ruun Spacesuit
This suit can be obtained rather easily as it is a Va'ruun Zealot drop. This type of enemy can be found at Decaran, Moloch, Ophion, and Zosma. There are other good drops such as the Coachman gun, Va'ruun Space Helmet, and Va'ruun Pack.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 64, an energy resistance of 68, an EM resistance of 72, a thermal resistance of 15, an airborne resistance of 15, a corrosion resistance of 15, and a radiation resistance of 15. This suit has a mass of 13.30 and is valued at 10,095 credits.
10 Sysdef Assault Spacesuit
Just like the Va'ruun Spacesuit, this is one that can be obtained by looting. When you have boarded a SysDef ship, you can kill its crew members for a chance of one of them dropping this Spacesuit. If you saved before boarding, you can reload your save to try again if it did not drop.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 84, an energy resistance of 80, an EM resistance of 88, a thermal resistance of 30, an airborne resistance of 15, a corrosion resistance of 15, and a radiation resistance of 0. This suit has a mass of exactly 12 and is valued at 9,950 credits.
9 Old Earth Spacesuit
Having different suits for different situations is a smart call. Not every suit will be all-purpose on your first playthrough. This suit does not offer any protection for Radiation, but it has a great spread in other areas. This suit will spawn as a random drop once you have hit a high enough level. This means there is no reason to go hunting for it and all you can do is hope you just happen to open the right container. Such a steep acquisition range tanks its placement on the list.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 136, an energy resistance of 132, an EM resistance of 140, a thermal resistance of 20, an airborne resistance of 10, a corrosion resistance of 30, and a radiation resistance of 0. This suit has a mass of 8.40 and is valued at 20470 credits.
8 Monster Costume
This isn’t even a spacesuit technically, but it still uses the same gear slot to equip it. This is meant to just be a joke outfit for fun and doesn’t offer amazing stats. However, just like Gran-Gran’s Spacesuit, it’s these little touches that enrich the experience and make playing the game a smiling affair.
This costume will give you a physical resistance of 50, an energy resistance of 50, an EM resistance of 50, a thermal resistance of 0, an airborne resistance of 0, a corrosion resistance of 0, and a radiation resistance of 0. This suit has a mass of 7 and is valued at 2360 credits.
7 Mantis Spacesuit
To get your hands on the Mantis Spacesuit, you will need to clear a specific mission. This mission involves completing a puzzle in the Lair of the Mantis. The Lair of the Mantis can be located on Denebola I-b in the Denebola System. If you make a mistake during this puzzle, you will trigger the traps that lie in wait.

This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 116, an energy resistance of 84, an EM resistance of 100, a thermal resistance of 15, an airborne resistance of 30, a corrosion resistance of 0, and a radiation resistance of 15. This suit has a mass of 16.20 and is valued at 31755 credits.
6 Mark I Spacesuit
The Mark I Spacesuit can be found at The Lodge in New Atlantis. However, you will not be able to simply pick it up or get it from a chest. This spacesuit has a master-level lock preventing you from getting your hands on it. You will need a security skill of no less than rank 3 if you wish to attempt to hack your way into getting this suit.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 120, an energy resistance of 136, an EM resistance of 128, a thermal resistance of 20, an airborne resistance of 0, a corrosion resistance of 30, and a radiation resistance of 10. This suit has a mass of 7.50 and is valued at 35410 credits.
5 Trackers Alliance Spacesuit
You can get this by completely random chance from drops, but there is a Vendor at The Key who can simply sell it to you. This is just a solid spacesuit thanks to its stat spread and being able to buy it without needing to complete any quests or special conditions means you can suit up to a higher caliber of suit earlier than others.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 144, an energy resistance of 112, an EM resistance of 128, a thermal resistance of 10, an airborne resistance of 0, a corrosion resistance of 20, and a radiation resistance of 30. This suit has a mass of 20.9 and is valued at 20780 credits.
4 Bounty Hunter Spacesuit
This spacesuit is a lot easier to get your hands on compared to many of the other options on this list. You can buy it from the Outland shop located in New Atlantis on planet Jemison. Alternatively, you can get it as a drop item from Spacer Scum. This suit has a better spread of stats that make it more consistent and useful than the Trackers Alliance.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 128, an energy resistance of 132, an EM resistance of 136, a thermal resistance of 15, an airborne resistance of 15, a corrosion resistance of 15, and a radiation resistance of 15. This suit has a mass of 20.9 and is valued at 20780 credits — just like the Tracker's Alliance Spacesuit.
3 Mercury Spacesuit
When you face the harshness of a dangerous environment over hostile enemies, this suit will be the one you see yourself switching over to. You will need to head on over to planet Earth to get your hands on it. Once on Earth, make your way to the Nova Galactic Base. No need to rush, as you will be making your way here while following the Unhearted quest line where you will get the key you need.

2 Starborn Spacesuit Astra
This is the first Starborn Spacesuit you will be rewarded with for starting a New Game Plus run. Its stats are off the charts compared to everything previously listed here. You will also get a special ship to go along with this spacesuit. This combo is a great way to start your second playthrough of the game.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 149, an energy resistance of 149, an EM resistance of 149, a thermal resistance of 50, an airborne resistance of 50, a corrosion resistance of 50, and a radiation resistance of 50. This suit has a mass of 17.40 and is valued at 51670 credits.
1 Starborn Spacesuit Venator
This is the final Starborn Spacesuit you will be rewarded with for starting your 10th New Game Plus run. With each Starborn Spacesuit, it’s resistances for physical, energy and EM weapons get nudged up and allow you to handle everything the game can throw at you.
This Spacesuit will give you a physical resistance of 246, an energy resistance of 246, an EM resistance of 246, a thermal resistance of 50, an airborne resistance of 50, a corrosion resistance of 50, and a radiation resistance of 50. This suit has a mass of 17.40 and is valued at 68340 credits.
