There's a Lady Gaga moment that happens on Netflix's buzzy new series Emily in Paris, and you probably missed it. No, Mother Monster herself didn't make an appearance on the hit show, but a deep-cut reference of hers did.
So what was it, you ask? Let me take you back to 2011. During an interview with Fuse, Gaga gave an incredible answer when asked the difference between making her first album, The Fame, “in peace” and her then-new record, Born This Way, which the world was waiting for.
“‘In peace?’ Listen, I was never making anything in peace,” she said. “The fight that I have been through is not ‘in peace.’ I wrote record after record until, finally, ‘Just Dance' occurred. And then it wasn't ‘in peace.’ I had to fight for a year tooth and nail, blood, sweat, and leather. Every night. No sleep! Bus, club, ’nother club, ’nother club, plane, next place. No sleep. No fear. Nobody believed in me. That album was not made ‘in peace.’ That album was made with the eye of the tiger, and so was this one.”
The “bus, club, ’nother club, ’nother club” quote has taken on a life of its own on Twitter, with fans looping it to make it seem like Gaga said those words dozens of times:
