Formula 1 superstar Max Verstappen couldn’t be more relived as he just came out of a hectic but purely dominant run with Red Bull Racing in 2022. Having won 15 out of the 22 races this season, the Dutch driver has gone on to set a new record and beat the likes of Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher to become the driver with most wins achieved in a season.
However, this successful trajectory was nowhere to be seen during the start of the season as Max Verstappen and Red Bull suffered immensely during the opening rounds of 2022. After having a string of poor reliability, the team and drivers seemed to have lost hopes on clinching the championship. However, the key areas were assessed and the people at the Red Bull Factory worked very hard to make it right.
What followed was dominance that was never seem before as the team went on to win 17 races in total during the 2022 season. Max Verstappen had a great team behind him for his championship charge. Mistakes were made but very rarely compared to Ferrari who seemed to do it on every race weekend. This was something that the Dutch driver was not at all concerned about as all it gave him was a bigger lead.
Max Verstappen mocks Ferrari for their tendency to make frequent mistakes
Here is what the Dutch driver had to say about his team. “I find engine trouble more frustrating,”he told Formule1.nl. “A mistake by the team is easy to correct, but with engine trouble you’re more like: shit, that can happen more often. That has to do with reliability,” he continued. He also had a few thoughts about his Italian rivals. “Over there they make a nice exhibition of it from time to time, yes,” Verstappen said about Ferrari.
The 2 time world champion has had his most successful season in the sport where he has broken multiple records. In today’s day and age, it is safe to say that the baton has been passed onto Max Verstappen whose era of dominance has just started. With the cost cap penalty incurred by Red Bull, it will be interesting to see where they end up when the 2023 season finally begins.
