Ever wondered how many calories a passionate Valentine’s night may burn off?
You might not need to worry about completing your recommended 10,000 steps a day after reading this.
Theoretically, a romantic night spent in bed could burn more calories than a quick workout. According to scientists, 15 minutes of intercourse in the spoon position could burn 51 calories. The most daring person could actually burn more than 200 calories.

An internet calculator could also be used by lovers to calculate how much they will burn during sex.
It was developed by a company called From Mars, which bills itself as an online medical centre for Americans, they offer Viagra, hair-loss treatments, and acne medications.
Surprisingly, GolfSupport.com, an online golf retailer, used easy research to build the calculator. To determine how many calories people burn just by romping, 112 heterosexual couples received Fitbits (fitness-tracking smart watches) in this study.

The survey, which does not acknowledge that it is top-tier science, asked couples to wear the devices while engaging in intercourse in 12 various positions.
The average number of calories lost in each position over the course of 30 minutes is used for both men and women who participated in the experiment.
For women, the winning position was the ‘squat’ position (188 calories).
The only difference between it and the ‘cowgirl’ position, is that it includes lifting the knees into a squat rather than bearing weight on them.
For guys, this position doesn’t burn nearly as many calories (only 50). The vigorous ‘butter churner,’ which burns a significant 211 calories for males over a half-hour, was done after the squat.
But the ‘butter churner’ is said to be a job for those “brave enough to try it.”
The woman performs the manoeuvre by lying on her back and raising her legs above and behind her head, while the guy stands over the lady’s lifted legs.

Personal trainer Lee Mitchell advises that you think of your Valentine’s Day liaison as a workout.
He said: “Valentine’s Day sex is slightly more special than your everyday sexual encounters.”
There are, of course, a variety of gym-based routines that easily outperform a 30-minute romp as a calorie-burning activity.
However, you cannot deny the reality that having sex in a variety of positions can and can result in greater calorie expenditure than you might anticipate.
Sex also provides the added advantages of enhancing sleep quality, elevating serotonin levels, and enhancing heart fitness.
Numerous studies have examined the caloric expenditure of couples’ intercourse without separating it into positions.
An analysis of 18 studies, which appeared in 2022’s Archives of Sexual Behaviour, found that heterosexual couples burn roughly 100 calories and spend about 20 minutes having foreplay and intercourse.
Researchers at the University of Quebec in Canada discovered couples in their early 20s burn between 69 and 100 calories in their average session. This equates to 3.6 calories per minute.
