A sleek baseball cap and bright scarf: Believe it or not, on my 10- and 11-mile runs, my mind would often wander to how my hair looked. I found that wrapping my hair in a bright scarf and wearing a baseball cap over it kept my 'do in place (and also made me feel like a badass).
Over-the-ear headphones: One problem I often face while running is ear buds constantly falling out or getting tangled. Once I got a pair of Urbanears headphones that issue was solved.
One pair of running shoes that will pick you up on your hardest days: After having the way I run analyzed by the folks at Nike, they suggested I go with the Flyknit Lunar 2. The shoes provided the extra support I'd need for runs that were longer than three miles but didn't leave me feeling weighed down. Go up half a size from your normal size for wiggle room and choose a bright color that will make you smile every time you see them. You'll need every pick-me-up possible to get you through those last few miles.
Running capris: As you can see in this picture, many editors went with running capris as opposed to shorts because they don't ride up. And trust me, chafing and shorts that ride up are two things you definitely don't want to deal with while running 13.1 miles.
