How often does it happen that one gets a technical foul but doesn’t remember? Well, Russell Westbrook is the answer.
The matchup between the LA Lakers and the Detroit Pistons got a little bit red for anyone’s taste. Lakers’ core player LeBron James and Pistons’ Isaiah Steward got involved in a scuffle, and the results weren’t good.
James and Stewart were just doing their jobs at that particular moment and that was to collect the rebounds but things got a little bit of a hand when both the players started to establish their respective dominant stance while defending each other.
LeBron’s arm hit Steward’s right eye resulting in a bloody cut, and that’s where things started going downhill.
Russell Westbrook doesn’t even realize he has a technical!
LeBron James’ reaction was solely based on how both were making already making a lot of body contact while being in the box out position. The contact was initiated by Stewartt when he was trying to institute his dominance. And, LeBron was just trying to get him off from him and in these mere seconds, something happen. And, Steward lost his cool.
With bloodshot eyes, he started charging towards LeBron James. If it weren’t for the security and the player then things would have gotten a lot messier.
And, when there’s a fight breaking out how can Russell Westbrook resist it? In the video captured, Westbrook is seen aggressively approaching LeBron and Stewart after Isaiah pushed LeBron. But was fortunately held up by a Lakers’ security guard. Though Westbrook says he was the peacemaker but the video and his aggressive walk portray something different.
Westbrook has no idea he was given technical for trying to escalate the fight. He first heard about this during his press conference interview when one reporter asks him about his opinion on his technical foul, and he hilariously replies, “Why’d I get a tech? I didn’t know I had a tech. Wow. That’s interesting.”
He continues the sarcasm by saying, “Well, you know, that’s just being Russell, I guess. When you’re Russell Westbrook, they just try to do anything, apparently. Well, whatever. … They had to put it on somebody. I’m the easiest person to throw s— on. Why not me?”
Twitter reactions are just too good for Russel Westbrook’s involvement in the fight.
Whatever transpired resulted in LeBron James’s ejection from the game, Stewart’s stitched eye, and Russell Westbrook’s mysterious Techincal foul. It was definitely a very eventful match. The Lakers will battle against the New York Knicks at the Maddison Square Garden on Tuesday.
