When I realized I was a star – Burna Boy spills

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu MFR better known as Burna Boy, a Grammy-winning Nigerian musician, has said he realised he was “a star” after a show in 2014.
He stated that it was the first time he’d performed in a stadium in Nigeria’s eastern region, and the large crowd boosted his ego.
Burna told BBC Radio 1Xtra that the South-East prefers local artists, and so it was a big deal when they turned up for him.

The Afrobeats star stated that he had never seen such love and did not believe it was genuine.
“2014, that’s the first time I did a show in a stadium in the eastern part of Nigeria.

“They only like their own people, so if you’ve crossed over there and you’re not from there, you know you have popped.
“I have never seen anything like that, I didn’t even think it was real (laughs) It was a real thing that could happen,” he said.
