Petrified Wood in New World seems to be a common problem for most players as the drop rate of the item doesn’t match its rarity level.
New World is now officially available as a full game and many players have already started their journey in the new magical world created by Amazon Studios.

After a few unsuccessful launches in the past, it seems like the new title from Amazon is already popular among MMORPG fans. However, it is not free of bugs and issues after all.
Where to Find Petrified Wood in New World
According to the game, Petrified Wood can be obtained from Young and Mature trees in New World. However, some players have reported that they have cut so many trees so far without getting a single Petrified Wood.
This issue was first reported in the earlier closed beta phase of the game over 2 months earlier. Apparently, the issue wasn’t fixed until the latest early access phase.
That being said, a few players did report that they were able to get on Petrified Wood from Dead Trees in the game. So, this clarifies that Petrified Wood could be obtained after all, but the drop rate is apparently very low.
Is It a Bug That You Can’t Find Petrified Wood?
It might be. To be honest, such a rarity for an uncommon item in the game doesn’t seem to be normal. It might be a bug or might need a balancing change to let players find it sooner and easier than right now. Also, it could be vice versa, so that the developer might increase the rarity of the item to match its drop rate.
New World is now available on PC through Steam.
