At the Rogers Park station (first stop south of Evanston on the UP-North line), I was told the lights and locks were operated via remote control.  It's a little box of a depot, but it is a place to huddle on cold mornings.  Again IIRC, a flasher and buzzer go off when it's time to get out of the station and go up the stairs to the platform.  I don't believe the station is open in the p.m.  I do know there is no station agen at any timet, hasn't been one for years and years.  (But at least there's no penalty for buying the ticket on board.)

And the cab companies won't take a time call for the address of the station.  That can be annoying.
