Why Dating Is a Battle, According to Meghan McCain

I'm the worst. I will google a person like, so much before I go on a date with him, and I don't know if it's making things better!

So, are you currently single?

I'm traveling all the time and I work all the time, and honestly, my really good friends think that I secretly don't want to settle down any time soon. There's some truth to that. There is a guy I am dating-ish, but we're also friends, and he has a similar crazy life. It's nice to be with someone who has an understanding of your life. But, yes, I am single.

Do you find technology to sometime be helpful when you are dating someone, since you do have such a crazy schedule?

I have some girlfriends who have spouses in the military who can Skype and stay in touch through technology when their spouse is overseas, so I think technology can help in a lot of ways.

I just think that when it comes to intimacy in the beginning parts of dating, I find it difficult. I don't know what it means when a guy doesn't text you back, but he likes an Instagram photo and comments on a Facebook page. What the hell does that mean? I have no idea! That makes it complicated.

I feel like everyone sympathizes with that. It's just the worst.

It's a mindfck. I don't know if you can print that, but dating is a mindfck with technology. I feel like I'm a smart, educated woman and I still don't understand it all.

You're really open with people, but when you see how much information is available online and how it affects dating, does it make you want to hold back at all?

There are so many things on the Internet a guy could see and freak out over. That ship sailed when I was 24 years old.

So you probably wish more guys would just put it all out there and be more honest too.

Just keep it real! That's IT, right? I mean, that's what women really want I think, just some guy who's not gonna jerk them around when they like them or they don't like them. It's that simple. It's the way I think about politicians too. Like, keep it real. Don't jerk your voters around. It's universal advice I have for everyone.
