It seems that even at 76 years old, Vince McMahon is not a man to mess with.
PW Insider have reported that WWE’s creative writing team had one of their ‘longest days ever’ on Monday for RAW.

McMahon was reportedly “extremely unhappy” with the original plans for RAW. He “ripped up the script” several times during the day, including the original plans that was presented to him, and even the initial re-write.
He then began requesting new creative ideas, some of which were said to be good and others not so good according to the report.
McMahon still rejected everything pitched to him formulating the new plans himself that ended up airing on the USA Network broadcast. This was said to have only been finalised about an hour before showtime.
McMahon was said to be “the loudest and angriest” one source had ever seen him on a show day - and that’s saying something.

Re-writes in WWE aren’t anything new. McMahon is well-known for changing things on the day of RAW and re-writing the show even after it’s already started in some cases.
The infrastructure of WWE is vastly different to how it was back in the Attitude Era. A small circle of around four or five people would write weeks of WWE TV at a time and McMahon has been quoted as saying they often worked backwards from the upcoming WrestleMania.
They knew what their banner matches were going to be and worked backwards to create the right stories for them.
These days, WWE is a publicly traded company and McMahon has a lot more on his plate. WWE has approximately 40 writers and Bruce Prichard who is the buffer between them and McMahon.

It seems McMahon doesn’t think about the shows until the day they air and to be honest, in some cases, it shows.
Having said that, WWE have just experienced a good week in the ratings.
SmackDown's were at 2.25 million on Friday and that’s the second highest of the year, only second to when the fans returned on July 16.
RAW hit 1.91 million which is slightly down from the previous week, but it’s a nice uptick from the 1.6 million mark they were doing in the no fans era.
